World Traveling Boy

Ethan began his world travel on February 19th.  He flew from Moscow to LA, from LA to Hawaii, from Hawaii to SLC, from SLC to NY, from NY to Moscow, from Moscow to Bucharest Romania, from Bucharest to Moscow, from Moscow to Ruka, Finland.  Ending his whirlwind tour 24 days later on March 15th.  That is a total of 22,057 miles and 49 hours and 21 mins on a plane!

First stop was Cousin Camp in Hawaii (Grandma and Grandpa Jeppson are on a mission there.)

Next stop was Bucharest, Romania.  Ethan made the JV basketball team at school.  Since we don't have the traditional school district to compete with, we play other American international schools.  Rather than play games throughout the entire season (not practical financially), they have a tournament at the end of the season.  Each school takes turns hosting.  This year it was in Romania.

Third stop was Ruka, Finland.  The middle and high school here takes the kids on a week long "Discovery" week.  They have a handful of places to choose from and Ethan chose to go snowboarding in Finland.  They were able to see the Northern Lights, go dog sledding, bowling and spend 4 days on the mountain.  The bummer of it is, on the second day, Ethan crashed and broke his collar bone.  He was still able to participate in most of the activities except no more boarding for him.  After a couple of days of calls between the Med Unit at the embassy in Moscow and the Med Unit in Helsinki, we were able to arrange a place for him to have surgery.  Chris flew up to Ruka, got Ethan, took him to Helsinki and got a plate and 7 screws put in.  Then the flew back to Moscow.  What a crazy life we live!!
