Halloween

What does the fox say????

We had a Halloween party for Dalton and Seth so that they could get to know some of the boys their age.  Here are some of our treats and activities.  We also played Fear Factor and watched Frankenweenie.  I think almost everyone had fun except by the end of the night I was pretty mad at my boots!  I guess it's been awhile since I have had to stand for hours at a time.  Haha.

In this picture you get a twofer...  You get to see my costume and you get to see our drinks!  The sad part is, you don't get to see my red boots.  They ROCKED!!  I thought about wearing them even when it wasn't Halloween.  BTW, this is not our apartment.  It is in the clubhouse.

Trunk or Treat
The next night was our ward's Trunk or Treat.  We have never been so astonished in our whole lives!  What a production this was!  It was pretty awesome.  They had booths and activities for the kids in the cultural hall while the adults got their cars all set up.  I wish we would have gotten more pictures but, I think we were in shock.   There was one family that decorated the back of their van like a jungle and the mom was dressed as a gorilla hiding in the van.  Another family drove their station wagon and they all dressed up like the Brady Bunch, Alice included.  Another family, the dad dressed like Little Bo Peep and the rest of his family were dressed as sheep.  We felt way unprepared!  After the actual trunk or treating, there were more activities and prizes inside.  The winners (seen below, Disco family) received a $100 gift card!

Greg Brady
The funniest part of this is that the boys cut part of their afro wigs and stuck it to their chests!

Our first ice storm

This was such a crazy thing for us!  It was awesome.  We probably looked like people who are seeing snow for the first time.  Besides being super cool, the kids got out of school for 2 days and Chris got out of work for 1.  Lucky for us we didn't lose power.  That might have detracted from the coolness of it.

This is the underneath side of the picnic table.  The rain froze as it was dripping through the holes.  Check out the seat.  Totally covered in ice, that is what the table top looks like.

It looks a little like frost but it is ice, completely covering the branches.

It's hard to tell when you see the leaves head on but you can see the one leaf sideways and they all have ice on the tops and undersides.  I never knew that ice had patterns like snowflakes.

It looks like the water is dripping off but, it is also ice.

AMAZING design in the ice!

The ice froze on individual blades of grass

Christmas at the Cathedral

Each year the Washington National Cathedral puts on a re-enactment of the Nativity.  They invite all to participate.  We got to the Cathedral at 1:30, Chris, Ethan, and Dalton got into costume (some people brought their own costumes or you could use ones that were provided.) and at 2:00 It began.  There were two narrators and various others who read from the scriptures.  At certain points the congregation sang songs.  It was beautiful and very touching!

Ethan is a snake.  Hee hee.
